課程簡介:
To introduce students in medical imaging to basic concepts in wave physics and the analysis of optical wavefields. To utilize these principles to understand existing and developing imaging techniques that employ coherent radiation. Special topics include X-ray phase-contrast imaging, diffraction tomography and photoacoustic imaging.

Time-harmonic fields
Scalar wave equations
Solution of scalar wave equations
Huygens’ principle, Green’s Theorem
Primary and secondary sources of a scattering problem
Weak scattering and physical optics assumptions
Time-harmonic plane-wave spectra of solutions to the homogeneous wave equation
Inverse source and inverse scattering problems
Nonlinearity of the inverse scattering problem
Information content of the scattered field
Backpropagation of wavefields
Generalized holography
Diffraction tomography
Propagation of the optical wavefield
Scalar theory of optical problems
Angular spectrum representation in angular variables
Validity of angular spectrum representation
Paraxial solutions to the homogeneous Helmholtz equation
Eikonal Theory (Geometrical Optics)
Rays as wavefront normals
